Dr. Humayra Hemmat Ali is an Afghan American general physician and surgeon dedicated to humanitarian work and improving healthcare access. She serves as the president and executive director of the Hemayat Charity Foundation (HCF) and is an active member of the Afghan Diaspora Delegation, Jirga (a non-governmental organization) for Sustainable Peace, Development, and Education, working to support Afghanistan’s progress through humanitarian efforts.
Dr. Hemmat holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Loyola University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Ayub Medical College. Her medical career includes humanitarian missions in the Philippines, where she provided essential healthcare to underserved communities, earning recognition from the Governor of Nueva Vizcaya.
At HCF, Dr. Hemmat leads programs focused on healthcare, education, and livelihood development, striving to make a meaningful difference for vulnerable Afghan communities. The foundation’s volunteer-driven model promotes collaboration and local involvement to create sustainable change.
In addition to her humanitarian work, Dr. Hemmat served as chief financial officer at Midwest Transport & Recovery Inc., where she developed skills in strategic planning, financial oversight, and leadership. Her ability to manage complex operations with a community-centered approach reflects her dedication to sustainable development.
Dr. Hemmat’s commitment to making a difference in Afghanistan is rooted in her passion for strengthening healthcare services and advocating for the rights and opportunities of all Afghans.
