Dr. Meena Afzali is a distinguished Afghan scholar and pharmaceutical scientist dedicated to the advancement of education, health, and development in Afghanistan. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a PhD with a specialisation in wound healing. Currently, she serves as a Research Fellow at the University of Greenwich, where she collaborates with international pharmaceutical companies on research & drug development and contributes to the academic training and mentorship of emerging scientists.
Deeply dedicated to the welfare of her country, Dr. Afzali actively engages with Afghan students, academics, and diaspora communities. She supports initiatives that expand access to education, foster professional development, and address child labour contributing to programs that promote safe, supportive environments for children and protect their right to learn and thrive.
In February 2025, Dr. Afzali joined the Afghan Diaspora Jirga, where she advocates for girls' education and improved living conditions for Afghan families. She believes that through shared knowledge, experience, and responsibility, Afghanistan can achieve a stable, dignified, and hopeful future.
