The Afghan Diaspora Jirga introduced a space for dialogue on the kind of education and training system Afghanistan needs, and on who should play the leading role in shaping its future. Considering Afghanistan’s long and complex history, education has often been a sensitive and contested issue—particularly regarding girls’ education and the balance between modern and religious learning.
For many years, there has been distance and tension between the madrasa system and the formal school system. This dialogue therefore created an important platform for sharing ideas, experiences, and models that could help bridge these gaps and move toward a more sustainable and inclusive educational framework for the country.
Experts, politicians, scholars, and other influential participants shared their perspectives and recommendations. The discussion proved to be a productive and meaningful space, contributing valuable insights toward building an education system that can serve all Afghans and support the country’s long-term development.
